The Frio River is one of the most popular rivers in Texas. Giving anyone willing to plunge into the chilly water a sense of refreshing freedom. This area branches off into many parts,  featuring several different campgrounds dedicated to this river. Personally, I’ve been to the campground called “Neals” many times with my family. This campground created a fun and close experience for me and all the other campers around me. Tubing, kayaking, rope swinging, and more are all popular activities river goers partake in.

The River is large and branches from the mouth at the Nueces River all the way to Real County and is 200 miles in length. My favorite childhood memories are found at this River. When I was younger, I was scared of the river and the depth of it. I imagined scary unknown creatures to be living at the bottom of it, where my feet couldn’t touch and my eyes couldn’t see. I remember tubing with my family all day and when we got to the end of the trip, at the bottom you could see bones deposited. This made my imagination run wild with the most unlikely yet frightening possibilities.
