Direction

Direction.

What is direction but a spot on a map, a place holder in the realm of space?

Where do I find mine?

North is only North but what is North on a globe?

Any direction you choose.

I choose peace

I choose surrender

I choose to follow the direction my pace leads me

I choose to flow with my power

I am not held captive by outside desires

I follow my needs

I use my voice

I have an expressive voice because I use it for good

I use my voice to empower myself

I use my voice for love

I use my voice because I was gifted with it

You only see but a small sliver of who I am, and even still, it is from a view of what you have known.

I live in my body

I do not live in yours

I do what pleases my purpose

What tickles my fancy you might say

I love receiving communication

I love receiving affection

I love when I meet my needs

I love when I am patient

I act from a place of nonreactivity

So that I can choose the best route

That will lead me to my highest purpose

How to keep your mental health in tip-top shape during a pandemic

Navigating through the world of COVID-19 can be a trying battle. Our mental health suffers when we are distanced from those we love. That is why I created a 3-step plan on what to do when you feel overwhelmed with dread or despair.

1.

Go outside.

Whether you are going for a walk, a run, a jog or simply stepping outside your front door, connecting with nature quite literally regenerates your cells to make you a brighter version of yourself. When in doubt, immerse yourself in nature.

2.

MEDITATE!!

Meditation pulls you mentally back into the present moment from wherever else your mind may seem to wonder – Why can’t I find a job? Why don’t I look like Sally looks on her vacay? Why is my life not planned out to the T? – There are floods of thought that constantly fill our minds with baggage. Meditation is there to release these states of mind that are no longer serving our highest good.

Here is a daily calm I enjoy using: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syx3a1_LeFo

3.

C R E A T E

Creation can take on many forms. Basically, anything you can physically or mentally create from scratch falls in this category. Whether that is painting, cooking, writing…creation comes in many forms and can be a source of joy to ground you into the present moment. What are you waiting for? Get out there and create!

This concludes the 3-step plan from moving from chaos to a state of peace. Want more tips? Let me know in the comments. Stay, healthy, bright and be you!

Changes

Life!!!

Crazy but amazing little conundrum. What are we doing here? How did we get here? What does my journey hold? It is all a part of the process. Who we are, what we become is all a cunning cycle of pushing as far towards what you want as your body and mind can endure and falling straight on your face a million and more times. Even then, a seeming failure turns into a catalyst. A reinvention. A complete and utter shift into a new being you never knew you could be – but now you’re here. And what’s next? Where’s my next stop? How do I plan out every last detail of every last moment to ensure I’m making the right decisions? That is the unraveling my dear. That is the becoming. Finding the absolute comfort in the unknown. Learning from the unknown. Discovering that everything is unknown in the first place. You look back, but find there is no reason to. Don’t think for too long, now you’re living there. Funny how the present is all we have. What made us believe otherwise? What made us think we could change the past? Movies? Time travel? Let it go. Let it go and let it hurt. Let it break your heart into a million pieces and discover how beautifully they can return to their previous state. You are filled with a plethora of universes inside one huge soul inside one small body. There is NOTHING like you. Nothing at all. That is why you feel so alone. Why can’t anyone understand why I feel this way? Why can’t my parents do it for me? Why can’t anyone help me? That is the wonderful thing we have to realize. Only we can do it for ourselves. No one can decide for you because they could never enter your being to know all the circumstances, all the twists, all the curves that you’ve endured to become who you are. That is the lovely thing about friends. Strangers as friends. Friends as strangers. You find common loves and you feed off of each others incredible creation of energy. This is the joy of life. The small things you don’t think about because they just flow naturally. Those are the things that become the most important pieces we interact with along a path of thorns and crystals and monsters. They aren’t make believe, they are what we create. We are the creators. And we are the destroyers. Get enough people together and watch what they can do. Watch the world change through a single idea created by a single person. Watch the world be destroyed through a single idea created by a single person. Don’t ever think you are little. You are magnificently huge. Don’t stay where anyone puts you in a box. You might start believing you belong there. You do not. You belong where your heart soars. You belong in a fountain of overflowing love and creative wonder. You deserve all your desires. You can have all your desires. Accept this reality and it will accept you. The only person you are fighting is yourself. Give up. Let the mind go. You don’t need a constant circle of thought to know you are where you’re meant to be.

Estes Park, Colorado

A beautiful trail overlooking the mountains of Colorado, Estes Park is a wonderful place to explore. Embarked on a hike with some friends and had an amazing experience. Nature surrounding. Some notable destinations along the way is a little forest of lovers – where people carved their initials into a garden of long, tall trees. Next, after enduring the 2.5 hour hike to the top, there was an ice lake known as “Gem Lake” – a frozen lake with mountains surrounding its edges.

Things to look out for: Beware of icy ground in the winter, I took to the trail in January, when there was still ice leftover. Keep this in mind and take your steps carefully.

Frio River

The Frio River is one of the most popular rivers in Texas. Giving anyone willing to plunge into the chilly water a sense of refreshing freedom. This area branches off into many parts,  featuring several different campgrounds dedicated to this river. Personally, I’ve been to the campground called “Neals” many times with my family. This campground created a fun and close experience for me and all the other campers around me. Tubing, kayaking, rope swinging, and more are all popular activities river goers partake in.

The River is large and branches from the mouth at the Nueces River all the way to Real County and is 200 miles in length. My favorite childhood memories are found at this River. When I was younger, I was scared of the river and the depth of it. I imagined scary unknown creatures to be living at the bottom of it, where my feet couldn’t touch and my eyes couldn’t see. I remember tubing with my family all day and when we got to the end of the trip, at the bottom you could see bones deposited. This made my imagination run wild with the most unlikely yet frightening possibilities.

If you’re interested in tent camping or simply enjoying your time in a cozy cabin, Neals lodging is the way to go. Visit the main page here to plan your next visit.

Summary of Content

This blog was a new and fun experience to me. It was nice to put some of my editing and writing skills to the test in creating original content. I had never done this before, but soon after starting, I realized this may be something I would like to continue to do on my own time. I found that people like viewing your content especially when it’s made solely by you. Others like to observe what goes on in your life that isn’t as public.

Promoting my posts via Twitter was an effective way to reach an audience, because these people already enjoy my Twitter content, why wouldn’t they be interested in seeing more? I could improve some aspects of my site by incorporating content that could reach a wider audience. For example, instead of just focusing on places around my area, I could branch out and include places closer to those viewing my content would be.

In creating this blog, it could help me with future opportunities by showing those interested in employing me that I have experience in creating content for the public and posting what others would want to see. Taking into account the types of photos that are more capturing to the eye. These tools could be beneficial to me in the future, going into a job with knowledge of how things work.

192My most popular week was the third week of November. My post “Sightseeing on Campus” attained the most views. I imagine the reason for this was because it reached a wider audience that would be interested in this specific material.

Outdoors Club Slideshow

This trip was the first of many great experiences to come. It was indeed a beautiful trip with the experience of connecting not only with nature, but people as well. Everyone came together with their common love and gratitude for the outdoors. The vibes at this campsite were amazing; my favorite moments were when we all gathered together around the fire and sang songs for hours. At one moment we all started singing whatever song came to mind and everyone was eager and ready to sing along.

This experience was a much needed escape from the stresses of everyday life. Being on the top of the mountain in the presence of such a beautiful place and taking in the view made my problems seem so miniscule. You could see the people below, as tiny as ants, just enjoying their lives with their families. Some taking a cool dip in the river, some hanging around the campfire with their families, some driving by in their itty bitty cars. All human, all with their own separate lives that are equally as important to them as the next guy.

I would highly recommend investing in a trip like this. Joining the Outdoors Club at Texas State was an easy way for me to connect with people and the outdoors. The officers were amazing at helping this trip come together. After paying the small dues for the club, we were provided with everything we needed for the trip, all you had to do was bring yourself. Sightseeing on Campus

Here’s a nice sightseeing spot that is actually right on Texas State’s campus! This spot is a hilly-sided area surrounded by trees. It’s a beautiful spot and it is located around the old amphitheater on campus. It is right next to Harris dining hall, so it’s a great spot if you want to have a nice stroll or relax after a meal.

I took this picture around last year when it first snowed. Many students explored this area and had the best time; sliding on plastic boxes as sleds. Over the warmer months, many people have picnics and take naps in the grass. There are many pretty flowers that grow here which are great for pictures! Some can even be seen taking their graduation photos here.

If you keep walking down this area, there’s a small river and a little teepee made out of sticks and hanging vines. It almost looks like a fairy garden. Overall this spot shows the beauty on the Texas State campus. It’s a nice and discreet spot that provides a great break from the stresses of college life.

Rio Vista Park

Rio Vista Park is a neat spot on the San Marcos map. There is actually two parts to this park, each accessible on either side of the street. It is located right next to Herbert’s Taco’s (no doubt the best tacos in San Marcos). I usually park next to the colorful bathrooms and walk over the bridge and to the left to explore the park. Lots of people enjoy this park during the day.

There are a couple of different trails you can walk on and sightsee along the river. Once you cross the small bridge, and walk to the left, it branches out into a few short trails. You can also cool off during the summer and take a dip in the clear, cool river. If you have a pup, take him along with you. My friend and I took our pup and he had the time of his life.

The second part of the park is behind Ivar’s river pub. There is rapids on this side and boulders to sit on. Chilling next to the water and listening to the river flow against the rapids is a very peaceful and calming place. My favorite time to go is at night when there’s not many people around and you can enjoy the park to yourself. If you want more information on how to navigate to this spot check out this link here.
